Financial Policy

For our complete fee schedule, click here: Fee Schedule.

  1.   Commitment to a full term: Our teachers are independent contractors, with whom each family is making a financial contract. Our teachers have committed to be with us all year, and their families budget for and expect to receive monthly tuition in an amount corresponding to the enrollment numbers they have at the beginning of the term. They are prepared to complete the curriculum for the year and will be present and ready to teach, whether or not your student is in attendance. Therefore, as patrons of EXCEL, you are expected to fulfill with integrity your financial obligation to your teachers for the entire year. Failure to do so will result in a family's not being able to enroll in further EXCEL classes until the obligation is fulfilled.

  2. Administrative fees: A nonrefundable base administrative fee of $75 for the first student, plus $20 for each additional student in the same family, will be charged to cover the costs of building usage (i.e., utilities, paper goods, maintenance staff), liability insurance, and administrative costs (postage, printing, office supplies). The administrative fee is due in full upon enrollment. This fee is refundable only if all classes in which the student has enrolled do not make.
  3. Tuition: First month's tuition is due upon enrollment in EXCEL classes. Regular tuition payment are due on the first Monday of class each month, September through November and January through April. Checks or money orders are the only appropriate means of payment (NO cash and NO vouchers). All payments should be deposited in the tuition basket when the student arrives for his or her first class of the day. All checks received after 2:00 p.m. on the first Monday are subject to a $10 late fee, to be included in the tuition check.  Writers of checks that are returned will be responsible to pay for all bank charges involved. If you have further questions about EXCEL tuition and fees, please contact EXCEL financial coordinator Sherry Bowman(call 806-0728 or ExcelEFC@yahoo.com
  4. Dropping or adding classes: Classes may be dropped or added only through the second week of classes without additional charges. Administrative fee, class materials fees, and any tutition paid are nonrefundable. If any concern, dissatisfaction, or problem arises with a specific class, withdrawal may be made after this two-week period only at the discretion of the teacher and administrator. The withdrawal procedure must be followed.
  5.   Advance payments: Payment for a full semester of  tuition may be made at any time. However, we cannot offer a discount for early payment.

Withdrawal Process

EXCEL: Excellence in Home Education expects a twofold commitment from each of its families:

(1) a commitment to consistent student attendance in the class(es) in which he or she is enrolled and

(2) a financial commitment to the tutor for the full term of each course.

Extreme circumstances, such as the loss of a job by a parent or guardian, the death of a parent of the student, or catastrophic illness, will be the only reasons considered for withdrawal after the first two weeks of class. In such cases, every effort will be made to keep the student in class.

Withdrawal requests must first be discussed with the tutor and then submitted in writing to the administrators. Students will not be eligible to enroll in classes during a subsequent academic year unless the withdrawal procedure is followed and until financial obligations from the previous year have been satisfied.

The following procedure must be observed in order to withdraw a student from a class:

  1. Contact the tutor to discuss the circumstances behind the desire to withdraw the student from class.
  2. When tutor and parent/legal guardian have reached a mutual decision to withdraw the student, the parent/guardian should obtain a "Withdrawal Notification" form from the EXCEL administrators. The form should be completed, stating clearly the reasons for withdrawal. The withdrawal form should then be returned to the adminsitrators.

Administrative fees and materials fees for tutors are nonrefundable. Parents are responsible for the full month of tuition in which the withdrawal occurs, as well as for the full year of tuition unless there is a mutual agreement between tutor and parents to waive the remainder of the tuition. A notation of such agreement will be made so that the student may enroll in future EXCEL classes.

Please note again: Students will not be eligible to enroll in EXCEL classes in any subsequent academic year unless the withdrawal procedure is followed and until financial obligations from any previous year have been satisfied.
